Being Mommy

A little about me before I fully begin is I am a 32 year old stay at home mom to two beautiful boys who are 5 and 8. Stay at home mom because I was recently laid off from my full time job, while pregnant! Yup I’m pregnant with my third. I know what was I thinking! I’m also a wife to my amazing husband, we have been together 10 years come May next year but only married for 1 year, we waited a long time!

lately since I have been home I have had somewhat extra time for things…well not really because during my free time I’ve had morning sickness (go me!). My days are the same everyday, my kids wake up at 430 am. Yes I said 430 AM!!! They have NEVER been late sleepers…ever. I love them dearly but my goodness this mama needs to sleep! So I wake up super tired and pretty annoyed, I feed them breakfast. They watch tv for a little before the older one needs to be at school. Yea I’m that mom I could careless about screen time, I think I was watching more tv than them when I was younger and I think I turned out pretty good! After some tv I pick their clothes out and get them dressed. After dressing them I then ask my 8 year old probably a million times “Do you have everything you need for school in your school bag?” He always says yes but he’s always wrong. I find myself running things to his school daily. I then pack him a snack and out the door we go.

Now I’m not going to call myself lazy-just pregnant but the school is literally 2 mins down the road and I drive him, it’s too cold out and I’m tired and I just all over look like crap! I always envy those moms who can look amazing before 8am. Even when I did work and was in by 7am I never looked amazing. Anyhow I drop him off and head home.

My youngest and I are here alone until 12:20 because his school thought for some reason half day kindergarten is beneficial to working families. This is the worst thing but you can send them to school all day for $600. I forgot I’d totally love to work just to pay for a public school that should be all day and free like all the other districts in the area. So my youngest and I try to go back to sleep for a little but that doesn’t last long at all. At 11 on the dot this child must eat lunch or he’ll lose his mind. I make him lunch, we do homework, and get ready for school I again drive my pregnant self to school and drop him off.

I come home and am FINALLY alone. Sometimes I take a bath…a hot one. I know your not supposed to take hot ones pregnant but it’s super relaxing. I can never actually relax though because there is a dirty kitchen waiting for me, clothes that have been sitting in the dryer for days, and then there is the boys rooms that need cleaning, and all this has to be done by 3:15. I’m not sure why I even bother though because everyone comes home and just throws things everywhere and it’s a mess again.

I go to pick the kids up, again the perfect moms are there or they just seem perfect. I’m in a hoodie and yoga pants…everyday. The moms all stand in their cliques it’s literally high school all over again. There’s the PTA moms, the cool moms, the fit moms, the moms who know everyone, and then there is me just trying to get my kids and go. I swear they are always the last ones out of the school where the oldest has most definitely forgotten something.

We get home and the older one does homework but funny he can’t remember anything he was taught all day. I wait for my husband to get home while making a half ass dinner. I wish so badly I could make good dinners but I just don’t. By the time he gets home which is 5pm I’m just tired (remember I’m up at 4:30am) I hug him tell him I missed him and give everyone dinner.

After dinner baths are given and my kids are in bed by 7pm. Some parents wound do their own thing during this time but to be honest I’m too tired. I maybe rub my husbands back and am in bed by 8pm just to start the whole process over again the next day.

So being mommy is the longest day ever, it’s lots of frustrations, its a lot of me putting myself down as a mother, it’s me judging myself, but it’s also me loving my children so much that I live these crazy days everyday. I am tired most days and I even want to give up but I am a mom there is no such thing as giving up, they need me , and who am I kidding I need them.

Well it’s 7:46 which means it’s almost my bedtime…4:30am comes early!
